Mary Murphy's perennial favorite about a little penguin who likes holding hands, dancing, and having all sorts of fun returns in a new bilingual edition。
A sweet and positive book。 A simple way for a child to express how they like to interact。

Ashley Adams,
A cute board book about a penguin and its parent having a loving relationship。
Deanna,
Absolutely endearing! This book has simple, vibrant illustrations (think Maisy books by Lucy Cousins) and depicts all of the things I have done/still do with my little ones。 This book is full of the warm-fuzzies and a touching portrayal of daily life with young children。 On my list of books I will pass on to family and friends。
Edward Sojuwa,
Mary Murphy knows what she likes, and seems to know by intuition that we like them too: cute board books to read to toddlers that celebrate cute animals, positive values, even love itself。 A penguin mom and her son spend time going thru what they like about life。 Only the boy penguin is seen saying his opinions, but his mom agrees with him all the way。 It's what moms do! And why is this wrong anyway。 I'm continually touched by books like this。 They reaffirm my belief that our own point of view i Mary Murphy knows what she likes, and seems to know by intuition that we like them too: cute board books to read to toddlers that celebrate cute animals, positive values, even love itself。 A penguin mom and her son spend time going thru what they like about life。 Only the boy penguin is seen saying his opinions, but his mom agrees with him all the way。 It's what moms do! Mandy,
Bilingual board book。 This is a simple, sweet board book about an adult penguin and a younger penguin。 As another reviewer mentioned, the fact that this relationship is not specified makes the book more inclusive-- it could be a parent, an aunt or uncle, a grandparent, etc。 The book has a great color scheme for a board book, nice primary colors contrasted with the black/white/yellow of the penguins。 The text is fully bilingual, with each phrase appearing first in English and then in Spanish。 The Bilingual board book。 This is a simple, sweet board book about an adult penguin and a younger penguin。 As another reviewer mentioned, the fact that this relationship is not specified makes the book more inclusive-- it could be a parent, an aunt or uncle, a grandparent, etc。 The book has a great color scheme for a board book, nice primary colors contrasted with the black/white/yellow of the penguins。 The text is fully bilingual, with each phrase appearing first in English and then in Spanish。 The text has a repetitive structure: I like it when/ me gusta cuando followed by a specific action that is clearly featured in the illustration。 A warm, cozy book that would be great to read one-on-one or at an infant storytime where parents could act out the illustrations。 。。。more

A little penguin rehashes his day, and shares his most favorite and memorable things that happened as he prepares for bed。
Nancy,
Me gusta como este libro invita a los niños hablar de sus cosas queridos。

For: penguin fans; readers wanting a book that focuses on activities。Possible red flags: could be too long for some readers。

Sienna loved this one。
Denise,
Simple repetition of the various acts of care and love children can expect from their parents。 The adult penguin and child penguin are both genderless, and their relationship is never labeled, which is great for giving it to any sort of family。
Jane Potter,
My 6 month old loves this book!

Genre: Modern Fantasy Grade: K-2 This book had been about a baby penguin enjoying being able to things with the mom。
Kim,
This is a nice bedtime book。 I like this it is short with bold and colorful illustrations。 It is a sweet message with actions readers can follow along- "I like it when we dance," "I like it when we tickle," etc。 This is a nice bedtime book。 I like this it is short with bold and colorful illustrations。 It is a sweet message with actions readers can follow along- "I like it when we dance," "I like it when we tickle," etc。 。。。more

Rebecca,
A great beginners book for toddlers about consent and showing appropriate affection。 A must read for all adults and their younger children。
Shannon Tuttle,
This is an adorable book。 My husband and I would read it together with our daughter with me reading the Spanish and him the English。 We were able to teach our daughter some Spanish through this book。 She loved this book as a younger child。
Amanda,
Good Spanish primer。 Story is simple but easy to understand。 Ozman did not find it interesting。

I like it when 。。。 I find a book this good。I like this book。 My toddler likes this book。 We like it when we read this book together! (He likes it when other people read it with him too!)It's positive; it's relationship-based; it's unfettered by roles, including gendering。 The language is winning: It is pro-social。 It is repetitive yet unstilted。 My kiddo is neurodiverse and is just beginning to express himself in phrases, and there are two that are coming up a lot: "I see 。。。" and "I like 。。。" T I like it when 。。。 I find a book this good。I like this book。 My toddler likes this book。 We like it when we read this book together! Sweet story about a relationship between a child and a parent。 Short and simple vocabulary。 Good for younger audiences。
Kristen Hylton,
Today I read "I Like It When。。。/Me gusta cuando。。。" at bilingual storytime, and it was pretty good! The kids got a little squirrelly toward the end, though。 I got the kids engaged by asking what kinds of things they like to do with their adults。 All the kids said they like helping! A couple even said they like to help clean their rooms and that of their baby brother!
